First 2-star membership examination of GOIA – Global Oral Implant Academy –

in Japan

On May 22, 2005 the first 2-star membership examination of the GOIA - Global Oral Implant Academy – took place at the Tokyo Dental College, and second on July 17, 2005. The examinations were organised and arranged with the highest accuracy on the part of the GOIA Japan Section. During a ceremony the examinees were welcomed by Dr. Takemae, the President of the GOIA Japan Section, as well as by Dr. Michael Gross, the Scientific Executive of the GOIA Headquarters in Bremen. On site Dr. Gross assured himself of the correct examination arrangements. Total number of examinees was 224. Many of them work in groups of different universities in Japan. According to Dr. Gross many documents that had to be submitted for examination showed a very high scientific level.

GOIA – the Global Oral Implant Academy – was founded in May 2004 in Bremen / Germany. GOIA is a global organisation that aims at providing different platforms for international communication in the field of implantology. In this connection members benefit from courses, scientific journals and papers as well as congresses. The 5 different levels of membership are a very specific feature of the GOIA. The individual rating of qualification enables GOIA members to obtain the best post-graduate education. Number of members is multiplying constantly. The international character of GOIA is clearly emphasized by memberships from 18 countries worldwide.

After the GOIA Founding Congress in 2004 special attention is paid to this year’s 3rd GOIA World Congress that will take place in Yokohama/ Japan. The GOIA Japan Section has set a very high benchmark for excellent organisation in order to guarantee a successful World Congress. The World Congress will take place from October 22-23, 2005 at the Hotel Dorint Sofitel Bayerpost, one of the most impressing venues. The congress promises the latest insights and research in the field of implantology.
